Do you know where your power comes from?

Most people's electricity comes from power plants across North America. But what if you could get your electricity as locally as your neighbor's rooftop or a PA wind farm? By becoming a member of The Energy Cooperative, you will join a group of consumers who have decided to positively impact Pennsylvania’s economy and environment by purchasing local, renewable energy.

Not all green power is created equal.

We believe it is important to make decisions that benefit both our members and our community, which is why we helped launch the ChoosePAWind initiative. Through this initiative, we are educating PA consumers on the benefits of purchasing new, Pennsylvania wind.

As a member of The Energy Co-op, 99% of the renewable power we purchase for you will come from PA wind farms. What's even more exciting is a portion of this power will go to the new Highland Wind farm, located in Cambria County, PA. This gives our members the unique ability to support our own, specific wind farm. Join with us in sending a powerful signal for building new wind farms in Pennsylvania.

The Energy Co-op also supports solar power in PA. Our EcoChoice100 product offers the most solar of any electric supply on the market, and nearly 30 times more solar for your home or business than PECO. Our solar also includes energy generated on the rooftops of our own members. As local as you can get!

What is The Energy Cooperative difference?

  • Nonprofit, member-owned cooperative = "Your energy company"

  • Actually promoting development of new projects and supporting a specific farm

  • Our energy includes a portion of solar power

  • Support local projects

  • Fixed prices for a year and no cancellation fees

  • Fair prices: low margins, no commissions

  • Additional member benefits

What does it mean to be a member?

As a member-owned cooperative, one of the principles we operate by is member economic participation, which is why we have annual membership dues of $15 for households and $30 for businesses. Dues waivers are available upon request. Click here for more information on membership.
