Low-Income Heating Assistance

The Pennsylvania Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Helps low income people pay their heating bills through home heating energy assistance grants and crisis grants. You need not have an unpaid bill to receive home heating energy assistance.

Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate (PA OCA)
State agency that represents the interests of Pennsylvania utility consumers before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), federal regulatory agencies, and state and federal courts.

Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PA PUC)
Balances the needs of consumers and utilities to ensure safe and reliable utility service at reasonable rates; protect the public interest; educate consumers to make independent and informed utility choices; further economic development; and foster new technologies and competitive markets in an environmentally sound manner.

Pennsylvania's Utility Choice Program
Helps to educate Pennsylvania consumers about the benefits of competition. Pennsylvanians can choose their local telephone carrier, natural gas supplier, and electricity supplier.

A not-for-profit membership organization whose mission is to harness economic power—the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace—to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.

Independents Coffee Cooperative
A group of independently owned coffeehouses focused on increasing the sale of fair-trade & organic coffee, while making a positive impact in our communities, on the environment, and in the lives of the people who produce the products we sell.

International Co-operative Alliance (ICA)
An independent, non-governmental association which unites, represents and serves co-operatives worldwide.

Mariposa Food Co-op
Mariposa is organized according to the principles of the international cooperative movement to provide residents of West Philadelphia and beyond with access to and information about food, especially healthy, locally-grown or otherwise sustainably-produced products. Our primary activity is running a food co-op owned by those who shop there, who actively participate in its governance and operations on an egalitarian consensus-seeking basis.

Pedal Co-op
A worker-run organization that offers environmentally-friendly services such as  recycling-by-bicycle to local businesses in Philadelphia.   

Swarthmore Food Co-op
Started by Swarthmore residents more than 70 years ago, it is principally owned by the cooperative's shareholding customers and exists for the benefit and vitality of the Swarthmore community and the Co-op's employees. The Co-op seeks to provide a convenient, friendly and helpful market dedicated to supplying quality meat, produce and commodity goods at reasonable prices to allow for the Co-op's continued existence as a cornerstone of Swarthmore's community.

Weaver's Way Co-op
A community-owned market with two locations, Mt. Airy and Ogontz. It is the mission of Weavers Way Cooperative Association (WW) to operate a grocery-based consumer organization that is owned and governed by its members; and to build community, both within its membership and in the Northwest Philadelphia area.
