Pennsylvania’s midterm election races play a critical role in shaping state policy, including environmental regulation and climate action. This post outlines the judicial races and explores what their outcomes could mean for Pennsylvania’s ability to protect the environment.

On July 29, 2025, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) released a highly controversial report challenging the well-established scientific consensus on the severity and impacts of global warming. The 151-page document, titled “A Critical Review of Impacts of Greenhouse Gas Emissions on the U.S. Climate,” aims to accelerate fossil fuel deployment while restricting climate science and undermining climate change mitigation efforts.

Renewable energy is becoming increasingly cheaper to produce, often more so than fossil fuels. Yet with energy prices on the rise in our region, many consumers are left wondering why clean energy is usually still more expensive to consume than its polluting counterpart.

This year, the PJM interconnection is facing a significant surge in energy projects entering the interconnection, as well as capacity cost increases affecting everyone in the PJM footprint. Read on to learn about energy capacity and how these changes affect Pennsylvania consumers.
