Ronald Fisher Joins The Energy Co-op as Executive Director; Plans Member Outreach and Growth, Expanded Services, and New Partnerships in 2019

February 13, 2019 – Philadelphia, Pa. – The Energy Co-op, a Philadelphia-based cooperative that supplies and markets energy to residences and businesses, has named Ronald Fisher as its Executive Director. Before joining The Energy Co-op, Mr. Fisher was engaged in the private practice of law and brings extensive experience in energy project development and finance, including in the solar power sector and retail electric markets throughout the region.

”Ron has been involved in every facet of solar energy generation. His experience in the clean energy industry throughout the mid-Atlantic region makes him an ideal choice to lead the Co-op through this phase of its growth and development,” said Sean McConnell, President of The Energy Co-op’s Board of Directors.

“The Energy Co-op has been at the forefront of solving energy problems faced by residents of southeastern Pennsylvania for 40 years,” Mr. Fisher added. “In the late 1970s, we helped people heat their homes affordably during the oil embargo. In the early 2000s, we were one of the first retail electric suppliers to make renewable electricity available to the region. And in 2015, we were the first to supply Renewable Natural Gas in the area. We look forward to being a leader in the on-going market evolution that has more and more consumers turning to cleaner, sustainable energy supplies.”

Mr. Fisher noted that The Energy Co-op is planning for growth through additional member outreach in 2019. In addition, the organization anticipates expanding its offerings to include energy efficiency programs later in the year. “The Energy Co-op remains committed to its core mission: to help people buy, use, and understand energy better.”

As part of its community engagement mission, the organization will continue to partner with a variety of organizations, including the Philadelphia School District, to expand energy literacy in 2019. And, The Energy Co-op will also aggressively pursue additional collaborations with business partners with a goal of expanding its Renewable Natural Gas and energy efficiency programs.

Founded in 1979, the Energy Co-op, based in Philadelphia, Pa. is leading the energy evolution by helping members buy energy as sustainably and affordably as possible. The organization has been addressing Pennsylvania’s energy challenges for over 40 years and offers renewable electricity, renewable natural gas and affordable home heating oil.
