The Energy Co-op will once again offer fixed rates for our renewable electricity products beginning Sunday, October 1st!

If you are currently enrolled in one of The Energy Co-op’s renewable electricity products, you are enrolled with a variable rate, meaning the per kWh rate you pay for your electricity supply is updated monthly. With a fixed rate, the rate you pay per kWh of electricity would stay the same for the duration of your fixed term, giving you the security of a predictable rate regardless of market conditions or other external factors.

If you have been a member of The Energy Co-op for a few years, you may remember that we previously offered fixed rates for our renewable electricity products. In Autumn 2021, high natural gas prices and severe market volatility hindered our ability to estimate future costs; as a result, fixed rates posed a notable risk to The Energy Co-op’s financial health. Market volatility has decreased significantly since then, and we are excited to be able to offer a steady and predictable rate and responsibly share that stability with our members once again.

The Energy Co-op has made 100 fixed rate slots available per month; 75 for current members and 25 for new or returning members, with a plan to eventually lift these monthly limits when demand management conditions allow. While fixed rates (like all our other rates) come with the promise of no tricks or cancellation fees, please note that members who sign up for a fixed rate will not be permitted to switch to another fixed rate until the term of their current fixed rate is complete.
